Platinum #292: Forma.8 (JP)

Hey there!

In March, I already completed the EU / NA stack of this game and I thought it's about time to get rid of the JP stack. I also enjoyed the second stack of this game.

What is the game all about?
In Forma.8 you take control of an exploration probe, which is stranded on an alien planet. Your target is to find and recover an energy source. As it’s a metrodvania game, it’s totally up to you where to go and what to do next. During your quest, you will encounter powerful bosses and unlock new power-ups. These power-ups are necessary to enter new areas and advance with the story.
Forma.8 is a very relaxing game with a few tricky parts here and there. It offers beautiful hand-drawn graphics and a nice soundtrack. The EU / NA verision also cross-buy but not cross-play between PS4 and Vita. The JP version is only available for PS4. For the EU / NA version, I’d recommend playing the game on PS4, as the Vitas loading times are a bit annoying.

What about trophies?
The game has a few story-related trophies but most of the trophies are tied to collectibles. And there are a lot collectibles. Thus, it’s best to follow the video walkthrough below. Please keep in mind these notes from playstationtrophies.org when following this video. There are a few differences and one missable trophy, which isn't covered by this walkthrough.

Where can I get this game?
Forma.8 is available digital only and can be found in all PSN stores. Please note that the version in the Japanese PSN store has its own stack. As already mentioned, the EU / NA version is cross-buy for PS4 and Vita.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them at play-asia.com or at scdkey.com. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Yes, as it's easy and can be completed within a few hours.

Platinum #291: Nightmares from the Deep 2: The Siren’s Call

Hey there!

Part 2 of the trilogy done! I must admit, this wasn’t nearly as good as Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart.

What is the game all about?
Again, you take control of Sarah Black, the curator of a museum. At the start, you receive a mysterious package from a messenger. The package contains an artefact, which makes the nightmare from the deep return.
I really enjoyed the story of the first game but the story of this game is just weak. The puzzles are still fine but the cut-scenes aren’t worth watching.
To proceed through the game, you must complete a few mini-games as well as some Hidden Object Puzzles (HOPs). Alternatively, you can also switch to Mahjong, if you don’t want to play HOPs. I found the game much easier when playing Mahjong instead of HOPs.
As every other game by Artifex Mundi, Nightmares from the Deep 2: The Siren’s Call has 2 difficulties and after beating the main story once, you unlock a short side story which leads as epilogue of the game.

What about trophies?
To unlock the Platinum Trophy, you must beat the game on each difficulty, beat all HOPs, every game of Mahjong and mini-games without using hints, and beat the side story. You need two full playthroughs. On one, you need to beat the main story playing HOPs only and on the other one, you must play Mahjong only.
If you want to get this game done as quick as possible, I recommend using this walkthrough from trueachievements.com.

Where can I get this game?
Nightmares from the Deep 2: The Siren’s Call is available digital only and can be found in the EU and NA store. There’s only one stack for this game.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them at play-asia.com or at scdkey.com. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Yes. In general, every game by Artifex Mundi is good when you’re up for an easy Platinum Trophy but if you also want to enjoy the story, buy the first game or Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek.
