Platinum #165: マブラヴ photonflowers*

Hey there!

This is one of the easiest visual novels out there. All you have to do is to watch all the scenarios that are available in the game. This will unlock all but one trophy in the game. For the missing trophy, which is also the hardest in the game, you need to scroll over a text and press and hold R2 until you’ve read through the whole text. That’s it – really!

If you ever encounter a copy of this game, don’t hesitate to buy it. It’s a nearly effortless Platinum Trophy which can be unlocked in under 1 hour.

Platinum #164: NORN9 Var Commons

Hey there!

NORN9 VarCommons is one of the few visual novels that’ve been also released in the west. The first time I heard about the game I knew that I’ll get it as soon as it is on sale as it can be completed in 3-4 hours. It has been on sale in the NA store quite often already but it’s a Vita game, which means that you can only play it with the account you bought the game. As I’m from Austria I had to wait quite a long time until the game was finally on sale in the EU store.

Unless like every other visual novel, I looked for a guide and skipped through the game as fast as possible. There are 3 heroines and every heroine has 3 different guys she can date. This means that there are 9 routes with various endings. Luckily you don’t have to unlock all of them.

Unfortunately skipping through the game is not all that you need to do. After you’ve unlocked most of the trophies you also have to play some very strange mini game called Norn9 Quest with which you have to unlock enough points to unlock all BMGs. In this mini game you have to choose 1 character from the game which has to duel 3 randomly chosen characters. There’s nothing you can do to influence the outcome of this duel. This means that you need a bit of luck to win them. For me it worked best when I alternately picked one of the 3 heroines. After you’ve enough points you need to buy everything from the store and you’re done.

If you’re up for a quick Platinum Trophy, buy this game the next time it is on sale but keep in mind that you need to invest some time in Norn9 Quest.

AvengedEvil

Platinum #163: Late Shift

Hey there!

Late Shift is more an interactive movie than an actual game. Similar to Telltale games, you’re watching and making some decision from time to time but this game doesn’t include any quick time events.

In this “game” game you’re following the events of a night guard, who gets out of the frying pan into the fire. You’re always asking yourself what will go wrong next and how will you get out of this misery?

The story isn’t that bad. It’s way better if you compare it to The Bunker, which is also a FMV game that has been released a few months ago. At least the actors are way better.

To unlock the Platinum Trophy you have to reach all 7 possible endings. If you’re playing through the game blind, this will take for sure 10-12 hours. If you want to go through it much faster, you can follow IBadDriverI’s video guide below and use the chapter replay exploit. In this case you won’t be able to see all endings but you can finish the game in 2-3 hours.

The game itself is only available in the PSN store. It’s not that expensive but it’s also regularly on sale. So it may be worth to wait for the next sale to get this game.

Platinum #162: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Hey there!

This time I’m going to tell you something about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

IBadDriverI and I played its predecessor many years ago on the XBOX360 and we’ve been thinking about playing this game since a few months. Finally we decided to start the game and play it couch co-op, as this is much more fun.

We started the game on his console and played through the first act and did some miscellaneous trophies on the first day. On the second day we continued and we realized that he kept all his stats but mine were gone. We thought that this might not be an issue as all story related trophies should unlock for both of us and that we’ll do the clean-up of some miscellaneous trophies in one run after finishing the game. So we played through act 2 on day 2 and act 3 on day 3. That’s where we realized that couch co-op won’t work as he got the trophy “I’m With Iron Man” (play through all levels of act 2 and 3 as pro-registration team) but I didn’t. To solve this issue I had to download the game on my own and had to play through the whole game once again. From now on we continued to play the game online as we still had one playthrough on legendary difficulty as anti-registration team to do. It was still quite fun for us but from now on we had to fight with very instable servers. One of us was kicked out every now and then. Worst thing was when we’re going for “Powers of Two”. This trophy is one big grind as you have to make all fusions by combining every available hero. I was host at that time and he got kicked out in the middle of our session and he lost his progress, which forced us to do it once again.

As you can see, we had a lot of issues but in the end we’re both happy that we completed this game.

If you’d like to go for this Platinum Trophy, I highly suggest to do it solo. The game might be a little bit harder due to this but you’ll save yourself a lot of troubles. Also the co-op related trophies can be easily done alone, assumed you have a second controller.

If you’ve played MUA2 and enjoyed it, I’d suggest you also check out MUA1, in case haven’t already. MUA1 was much more fun but also more of a grind.

AvengedEvil

Platinum #161: レイジングループ

Hey there!

There isn’t much that I can tell you about the game. It’s a visual novel so I skipped through everything to get the Platinum Trophy as quick as possible. I managed to get in under 20 minutes. :-)

This game is available on the Japanese store for 3000¥. This is quite expensive for 20 minutes of gaming. I was in the lucky position that IBadDriverI downloaded the game on and he allowed me to play it on his console. If you want to go for the game, I’d also recommend that you buy it together with a friend. This will save you a lot of money.

The game is in Japanese only but don’t worry, you don’t need to be able to read Japanese. Simply follow this video and you’ll be fine.

Don’t worry if you’ve missed the box - it will come back after a while.

G      Unexpected Journey
            What goes around …

A little bit after Fez you’ll come across an area in which some rails are crossing you way. Go to the right side of the rails and wait for a train to appear. At the back of the train press Square to jump on it. A short cutscene will start and you’ll get this trophy as soon as this scene is over.
Don’t worry if you’ve missed the train - it will come back after a while.

Platinum #160: Black The Fall (EU Version)

Hey there!

Black The Fall is a platformer that has been released last week. The game is very short and the puzzles aren’t that hard. When following a guide, you can easily complete the game in approx. 2 hours.

In this game you take control of an old machinist who wants to break out of the Communist regime. For this you have to hide from guards and solve some puzzles. Half way through the game you’ll also get a mechanical dog, who’ll help you to beat the game.

The graphics are nice and also to controls are good. The soundtracks fits to the game too.

The most annoying part in the game is where you have to make your way through a complete black screen. You need to listen closely and have to avoid the deadly steam. Luckily this part only lasts a minute but it took me a few tries.

Only 4 of the trophies are unlocked while progressing through the story. For the other ones you have to leave the main path but they aren’t that hard to find. If you’re having troubles head over to my guide or use the video walkthrough by IBadDriverI.
There’s also a NA version of the game available which has an additional trophy list. This means you can get 2 Platinum Trophies for the same game.

AvengedEvil

Platinum #159: Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power

Hey there!

Yay, another game that glitched on me! But let’s come to that later.

Trine 3 is a platformer that been released in 2015 for PS4. The graphics aren’t state of the art but I wasn’t expecting this. I must admit that this kind of graphic perfectly fits to the game. The controls are a little bit clunky but this seems to be normal for a platformer. Unfortunately the story is really lame. I haven played Trine and Trine 2 yet but I heard that these stories should be much better. To be honest, I wasn’t here for the story – I just wanted to get a quick Platinum Trophy. And it was quick… almost.

Trophywise you only have to beat each of the 8 chapters, play some side quests and collect a Trineangles. There are 1050 Trineangles but you shouldn’t have too much problems to find them all. If you take your time and search thoroughly, you won’t miss that many. If you miss one, you can always replay the chapter. There are also good guides out there which migh help you.

If you’re quick, you can do it in 5-6 hour but make back-up saves from time to time. I haven’t done this and the game glitched on me during chapter 6, which forced me to start again from the scratch.

What exactly can glitch? – Good questions. I can happen that you Trinenagle counter shows 0/0 when collecting Trineangles. When this happens, you’re screwed. Immediately exit the game and load one of your back-up saves. There are only a few people (including me) who had this problem but I wouldn’t take the risk if I where you.

Grab the game when it’s on sale. Another easy game from this series is the PS3 version of Trine 2. I think I might get this one in the future too.

AvengedEvil

Platinum #158: Wheels of Aurelia (US Version)

Hey there!

A few months ago, after playing the EU version (Platinum #139), I knew that I also have to get the US version, as this game is pretty easy.
This game is a story driven adventure in which take control of Lella and drive with her car from one city to another. During this ride different characters will join you and you have to find out more about their backstories and have to fulfill some tasks (e.g. racing, robbing a bank…). There are different routes and thus there are different endings. You’ll need to unlock all 16 endings for the Platinum Trophy. 16 sounds a lot but one playthrough only takes about 15 minutes, which means that you can complete the game in approx. 4 hours with the help of a guide.
Speaking about guides, you can find good ones on www.playstationtrophies.org or www.psnprofiles.com, but all of them tell you to focus on getting all endings first. I’d recommend that you focus on getting all cars first. Unlocking all cars is also required for the Platinum Trophy and whilst working on this, you’ll automatically unlock a lot of endings. Doing so will save you some time.
The game isn’t very expensive but is also on sale every few months. If you’re lucky, you’ll get it for 5$ (or 5€ in case of the EU version) or less.
As you can see, another cheap and easy game with 2 different stacks in which you can unlock the Platinum Trophies without much effort.

AvengedEvil

Platinum #157: Dying: Reborn (US PS4 Version)

Hey there!

It's the second time I played through this shit. The first time was the EU PS4 Version a few weeks ago. I must say it doesn't get any better the often you play this game.

The game has 6 chapters and every chapter is a different room from which you need to escape. The graphics are outdated and the voice acting is maybe the worst I've ever heard. Furthermore the story isn't good. I think the devs wanted to make it creepy but it's just lame.

If you're going for the trophies, use a guide! There are some trophies that are related to collectibles in the game and you want to get it done in one run – believe me. The rest of the trophies are all story related and thus unmissable.

The game can be purchased stand-alone or in a bundle with the Vita and the VR version. I'd go for the bundle, if it is on sale. Unfortunately the collectibles in the Vita version are different and there's no guide available at the moment. Initially I wanted to play through the Vita version and write a guide for I but this game annoys me so much that I don't know if I'll ever do this. The VR version offers only 3 chapters, which makes it much shorter, but is only a 100% game worth 315 points.
If you're a trophy hunter, grab the game when it's on sale, use a guide and finish this shit in under 2 hours. If you're not a trophy hunter, don't waste your time with this game. Invest your money in something else.

AvengedEvil

Platinum #156: Puzzle Showdown 4K

Hey there!

Puzzle Showdown 4K is, as the name implies, a puzzle game. So there ain't much to tell about the story, graphics or gameplay. If you're not a trophy hunter or a puzzle fan, you can safely skip this game. You won't for sure miss the game of the year. ;-)
The trophies of this game are really easy. At first I was afraid of “Puzzle Master“, which requires you to beat a 510 pieces puzzle in under 2 hours. It turned out that it wasn't hard at all and I managed to get this trophy in under 1 hour on my first atempt. I recommend that you go for this trophy first as you'll get a lot of other trophies whilst going for “Puzzle Master“. All other trophies can be unlocked whilst going for “Puzzle Champion“, which requires you to beat 50 puzzles. This might sound like a lot but don't worry, you can do 28 pieces puzzles and you'll be able to finish them under 1 minute each.
The only thing you need to be aware of is that you need a second controller for the competitive trophies, as the game offers offline multiplier only. Alternatively you could also use the Vita via remote play.
If you're a trophy hunter and who is looking for an easy Platinum Trophy, I would say go for it. But wait until it is on sale. It's not worth to pay full price.

Yours,
AvengedEvil
