Platinum #238: Wand Wars

Hey there!

Get your brooms ready – it’s Wand Wars time!

What is the game all about?
Wand Wars is best described as some kind of magical sports game. You and your opponent(s) each ride a broom, and it’s you task to hit your opponent(s) with a magical ball to take them out. There are also power-ups, which will can make it easier for you to win.
At the beginning, only one character (The Apprentice) is unlocked. If you beat the story mode with him, a new character (The Machine) will be unlocked. He will have his own story with new challenges and game mode. All in there, are 6 characters, each of it having its own story mode and nice little background story. The story modes are very short – should take you more than 30 minutes each – and you can decide if you want to do them on Normal of Hard. During this, you will come across 5 different game modes and various levels. Each mode has its own rules but basically you just need to take out your opponents.
The game also offers local multiplayer, in which you can compete against up to 3 friends.
The controls work perfectly and the game has awesome pixel art graphics. For me, the game is a hidden gem and I hope that it will get a second trophy stack somehow in the future. I’d really like to play this game again.

What about trophies?
You will be awarded with a trophy for completing the story mode of each character. As difficulty doesn’t affect these trophies, there’s no need to beat the game on hard. During this, you might also unlock a few miscellaneous trophies. The rest of the trophies can be unlocked in versus mode (local multiplayer). For this, it’s recommended to have a second controller. You can also try unlocking them while playing against the A.I., but this will be more difficult.
If you need any help with one of the trophies, have a look at this guide from playstationtrophies.org. Everything is described in detail and it shows you ways to unlock trophies with and without a second controller.

Where can I get this game?
Currently, the only way to get Wand Wars is via the NA PSN store. Up to now it’s unknown if it will be released in different regions or if there will be a physical release in the future.
If you don’t know how to setup a NA account, check out this video by my buddy IBadDriverI.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them here. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Definitively! It’s an easy and fun game. And if you wait until it is on sale, you can easily get it for 5$ or less.

Platinum #237: Stikbold!

Hey there!

Hey Björn, hey Jerome, the 70s called, they want their outfits back!

What is the game all about?
Stikbold! is a very weird dodgeball game, which takes places in the 70s. You take control over Björn and Jerome, who want to become the greatest dodgeball players of all time. After a short training session, in which they (you) get a brief instruction from their coach, the adventure begins. In this adventure, they don’t only fight against hippies and bikers, but also against a big whale and the devil himself.
The goal of the game is pretty simple, take out all of your enemies before they take out you to win the match and proceed to the next level. If you encounter a boss, you must hit him with the dodgeball until all his energy is gone.
The controls of this game are very simple and you’ll learn them within a few minutes. The graphics are nice and if you’re a fan of the 70s, you’ll like the look of the characters and the funky music.
If you’re playing solo, the game can be pretty much fun unless you aren’t going for trophies. If you’re going for trophies, it’s best to get a little help from your friends. Especially when playing on All Star, as you’re A.I. buddy really sucks and makes this mode ridiculously hard – which I had to learn the hard way.

What about trophies?
The trophies in Stikbold! are quite challenging and most of them won’t unlock during normal course of play. You must beat all challenges of each level at least once (recommended on casual difficulty), and after beating the game, you must to beat it again on the newly unlocked All Star difficulty. As already written above, it’s best to beat All Star together with a friend. After you’re done with this, you can clean-up the remaining miscellaneous trophies in Quick Match. For this, a second controller is recommended as it will make things a lot of easier. The most annoying trophy will be “Critical Hit”, as it requires you to get 20 stingers, which is completely luck based.
If you need any help with one of the trophies, have a look at this guide from playstationtrophies.org. This guide is far from being perfect but it’s all I could find.

Where can I get this game?
The game is available digital only in every PSN store.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them here. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
If you have a buddy who is willing to help you with All Star difficulty, yes. Otherwise it’s just a frustrating waste of time.

Platinum #236: Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode (NA)

Hey there!

Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode is probably one of the most boring adventure games I have played in my life.

What is the game all about?
In Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode you take control over shrine maiden student Kaede Yamabuki. At one day, you find some magical glasses, which are the reasons why Kaede falls in love with a stranger. This turns her whole world upside down.
Most of the time you’re just watching long cutscenes, which are in Japanese. You have the option to turn on Japanese or English subtitles. In between the cutscense, you must walk around a little bit to proceed with the story. Your actions while you’re in control of Kaede have a high influence on the story and will lead to different endings.
The story is pretty weird and focuses on Kaede, her friends, and youkai, some strange human-like beings which live in the woods.
The graphics are outdated but okay. You have to keep in mind that this is a school project and not an AAA game.

What about trophies?
Miko Gakkou Monogatari: Kaede Episode is an easy game and you will get all trophies within 5-6 hours if you follow the guide on ps3imports.org or watch the vide walkthrough below. Most of the trophies are story-related but there are 7 different endings and each will unlock a separate trophy. The hardest part in this game is not to fall asleep as the cutscenes are long and boring and you can’t skip cutscense in your first playthrough, which will take around 3 hours. Afterwards already seen cutscenes can be skipped.

Where can I get this game?
The game is available digital only in the NA and JP store. Each version has its own stack. If you’re looking for the Japanese version, you have to enter 巫女学校物語~楓編 in the Japanese store.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them here. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Yes, but be prepared for long and boring cutscense. It’s best to play another game on your Vita to bypass time.

Platinum #235: Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2

Hey there!

A few weeks ago, I bought season 1 and 2 as a bundle. And as I’ve already played season 1 recently, I wanted to get season 2 done as soon as possible. Not because I like this series, but because it’s an easy Platinum Trophy.

What is the game all about?
At the beginning of Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 you can choose if you want to continue your story from season 1 or if you want to create your own backstory. Creating your own backstory is only mandatory if there’s no save file from season 1 on your PS4 or in case you’re really unhappy with the decisions you made.
Again, you take control over Jesse. You’ll follow him / her (depends on which gender you’ve chosen) and his / her friends from “The Order of the Stone” in their latest adventure in the world of Minecraft. You’ll visit many new places and meet a lot of old and new friends. Of course, you’ll also encounter some bad guys. And as in any other Telltale game, you’ll have a lot of choices to make. Some of them are quite tough and will have a major impact on the story.

What about trophies?
If you’ve played Minecraft: Story Mode, you’ll know that this game had some missable and some decision based trophies. This forced you to replay a few chapters to unlock all trophies. Luckily, this isn’t the case in season 2. Now all you must do to unlock the Platinum Trophy is to beat the game. None of your choices will have an impact on trophies.
As in any other Telltale game, you’re mostly just watching videos. Occasionally must make a decision or beat some quick time events. This can be boring but this gives you the opportunity to play something else on your Vita or PS3.
The game isn’t hard but if you’re not watching you might get lost in what to do next. To avoid unnecessary exploring and thus losing time, you might want to use this guide from playstationtrophies.org.

Where can I get this game?
Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 is available in every PSN store. If you haven’t played season 1 yet and want to make a good dear, you might want to wait until the season 1 and 2 bundle is on sale. With this, you’ll get two games for a decent price.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them here. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Yes, but wait until it is on sale. In my opinion, Telltale games are always overpriced.

1 HOUR PLATINUM TROPHIES

I thought it might be a good idea to share with you a list of all games in which I could unlock the Platinum Trophy in one hour or less. This list shows roughly the needed minutes to unlock the Platinum Trophy and where you can buy get them (incl. links for physical releases). I hope this will help you to unlock more Platinum Trophies in lesser time.

It should be mentioned that these aren’t all Platinum Trophies you can get in one hour or less, just the ones I unlocked yet. Whenever I unlock a new one, I’ll add it to this list. Thus, you might want to check out this list on a regular base.
