Platinum #237: Stikbold!

Hey there!

Hey Björn, hey Jerome, the 70s called, they want their outfits back!

What is the game all about?
Stikbold! is a very weird dodgeball game, which takes places in the 70s. You take control over Björn and Jerome, who want to become the greatest dodgeball players of all time. After a short training session, in which they (you) get a brief instruction from their coach, the adventure begins. In this adventure, they don’t only fight against hippies and bikers, but also against a big whale and the devil himself.
The goal of the game is pretty simple, take out all of your enemies before they take out you to win the match and proceed to the next level. If you encounter a boss, you must hit him with the dodgeball until all his energy is gone.
The controls of this game are very simple and you’ll learn them within a few minutes. The graphics are nice and if you’re a fan of the 70s, you’ll like the look of the characters and the funky music.
If you’re playing solo, the game can be pretty much fun unless you aren’t going for trophies. If you’re going for trophies, it’s best to get a little help from your friends. Especially when playing on All Star, as you’re A.I. buddy really sucks and makes this mode ridiculously hard – which I had to learn the hard way.

What about trophies?
The trophies in Stikbold! are quite challenging and most of them won’t unlock during normal course of play. You must beat all challenges of each level at least once (recommended on casual difficulty), and after beating the game, you must to beat it again on the newly unlocked All Star difficulty. As already written above, it’s best to beat All Star together with a friend. After you’re done with this, you can clean-up the remaining miscellaneous trophies in Quick Match. For this, a second controller is recommended as it will make things a lot of easier. The most annoying trophy will be “Critical Hit”, as it requires you to get 20 stingers, which is completely luck based.
If you need any help with one of the trophies, have a look at this guide from playstationtrophies.org. This guide is far from being perfect but it’s all I could find.

Where can I get this game?
The game is available digital only in every PSN store.
If you need PSN cards, you can buy them here. There you get digital codes, which will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.

As a trophy hunter, should I get this game?
If you have a buddy who is willing to help you with All Star difficulty, yes. Otherwise it’s just a frustrating waste of time.
