Hey there!
There it
is, Platinum Trophy number 200!!! Whoop-whoop! :-)
I think for
many people #200 would mean a lot and they’d have chosen a different / harder /
more prestigious game. But I don’t care that much about milestones. I started
thinking about my 200th Platinum Trophy after I’ve reached #199. The
only thing I knew was that it shouldn’t be a Visual Novel. So, I had a look
into the store which news games are available and I stumbled over Slayaway
Camp. And as it was Halloween, I thought it would make perfect sense to
start this game.
What is
the game all about?
Slayaway
Camp is an homage to
some classic horror movies. You’re taking control over a serial killer and must
kill all available targets in each “set”. Those sets act as levels in the game.
After beating all sets you’ll unlock new movies with other killers you can take
control of.
As the game
is designed in a Minecraft-ish style, the game isn’t that brutal as the
above sentences may sound. In the end, it’s nothing more than a puzzle game in
which finding the correct way to beat the sets stands in the foreground.
You have
very limited control over your character. In fact, you can only move left,
right, up and down. With these limited controls, you need to find a way to slay
all your targets. In some levels, your amount of turns is limited. If you can’t
beat those levels within the given limit, it’s game over. Don’t worry, you can
replay each level as often as you want. You also earn some money for each
completed level. With this money, you can even buy the solution for each level.
Speaking of money, there’s also a store in which you can spend this money.
What
about trophies?
Most of the
trophies in this game are story-related. You’ll unlock them naturally while
progressing through the levels of each movie. If you stuck in a level, don’t
waste your money in buying the solution. Instead, look for solution in YouTube.
There are plenty of guides and you need your money as you must buy a lot of
stuff in the store for unlocking some trophies. You’ll have to do some grinding
for money as well as for getting 666 kills but it’s not that annoying if you’re
used to grinding. The worst trophy for me was “Final Destination”. Here you must
get 25 kills in a mini-game without failing. I had to retry many times but in
the end, I could do it. If you need further tips on this game, I suggest you
check out the guide on playstatiotrophies.org.
Where
can I get this game?
Currently,
the only way to get Slayaway Camp is via the PSN store for 16.99€ / 16.99$.
As far as I know, the game is available in all regions. I don’t know if there
will ever be a physical release of this game.
If you need
PSN cards, you can buy them here. There you get digital codes, which
will be send to you via e-mail within minutes.
As a
trophy hunter, should I get this game?
Why not? It’s
easy and can be completed within a few hours. Personally, I find it a little
bit overpriced. Maybe you want to wait until it’s on sale. As already said, it
can be completed within a few hours with the help of a guide. Though, I’d recommend
trying to beat it without looking up the solutions. It’s definitively more fun.
Yours,
AvengedEvil
